Barb Pote - Staying Connected
Individual Image

Connections to the Alliance happen in many ways and are illustrated by the personal stories of community members, staff members, and those who volunteer or support the work through philanthropy. The common thread is the desire to impact communities and save lives.
Barb Pote’s connection to the Alliance began in 2009 when she was a parent volunteer for the North Oakland Community Coalition (NOCC), which is a part of the Alliance’s network of prevention coalitions.
“The Alliance of Coalitions for Healthy Communities is an excellent means of strengthening grassroots prevention work, allowing coalitions to be part of a prevention community, sharing ideas, resources and information,” she says, “That is the strength of the Alliance - the diversity of communities involved, the experience of the coalition leaders, agents and members.”
In 2020, Barb’s heart for community change connected in a different way – by supporting the Alliance with a monthly gift. She gives because she sees the impact the Alliance has brought not to just one local coalition, but across the entire county.
“I believe in the community and education, prevention and protection focused mission of the Alliance and am impressed with the innumerable resources it provides to many communities, “she says. “I donate regularly to support the continued work of the Alliance.”
