Carol Mastroianni - Better Together
Individual Image
In 1995, the Birmingham Community Coalition (now known as Birmingham Bloomfield Community Coalition - BBCC) was formed with one goal – to educate local school students on the dangers of abusing alcohol, tobacco and drugs. Partnering with the Alliance, says BBCC Executive Director Carol Mastroianni, has allowed the BBCC to not only stay true to its mission but also continue to expand services in mental health and wellness for youth.
BBCC is one of more than 21 community prevention coalitions connected to the Alliance. Affiliation allows the local groups access to resources including funding and programs.
“For the BBCC and all coalitions, the Alliance has become a hub,” says Carol. “We are able to come together and support one another. It is difficult to do this work in isolation and it is the Alliance that brings coalitions together and helps keep them strong. We are truly better together."
